OH HAPPY DAY!

The title of this post will only mean something to Jenna and the rest of my family. 🙂 However, we certainly HAVE celebrated a couple very happy days recently. I will attempt to keep the number of words to a minimum because I’m sure I could get long-winded. The number of pictures I’d l ike to share will make this posting long enough.

On Saturday, April 21, Taylor went to her very first prom.

She had ordered her dress online – in plenty of time –  on Thanksgiving. When she received it, it was way too big. I couldn’t send it back to the “store” as it was created in China. So, the next thing we had to do was take it in. It was a job that seemed rather overwhelming to me but I was willing to accept the challenge. I had questions, though, how to make it happen and called upon a neighbor who had done dresses like this in the past for advice. Taylor and I went to Judeen’s house for help. Judeen, bless her heart, just took over the job. I think she knew it was going to be something I really didn’t want to tackle! And, I’m so thankful for her and what she did. You would never have known that dress was taken apart and re-sewn. THANK YOU, JUDEEN – you are a miracle worker!

The junior class was supposed to be in charge of planning and decorating for the event. Well, things happened (as they sometimes do) and Taylor was basically left in charge of most or all of the planning. She and I finally sat down together several weeks prior to the event and worked on the decorations together, ordered them and waited. The final box came only two days before prom. Needless to say, the preparations of this prom consumed Taylor’s thoughts for weeks! She wanted it to be good for the rest of her classmates. I believe she succeeded. Even the principal of the school told Jamie (she and Curt were chaperones) that this prom was one of the nicest ones he’s been involved with and he’s been to 15 previous ones. Jamie also told us this was our superintendent’s 33rd consecutive prom. 🙂

Taylor looked absolutely gorgeous  and her beau, Nick, looked very handsome, as well.  Taylor received a “high-five” from the entire group and I know there’s nothing that feels any better than knowing you have succeeded!

Jenna celebrated her 24th birthday on Monday. I told her I would have supper in honor of her day but wasn’t sure what I’d have. I spent the entire day hauling boxes of trailer supplies and goodies from the storage unit to the new summer cottage on wheels. It overwhelms me to change purses, let along trying to find new homes for what used to be somewhere else in a trailer we no longer have. By the time I put the last towel in its new home, it was time to be thinking about what to do for supper. It was a nice day, so I decided hotdogs over a campfire was the plan. We always like having a reason to cook a hotdog over the fire and celebrating Jenna’s birthday was a GREAT reason!

Happy Birthday Dear Jenna!

Some of Jenna’s coworkers gave her a lantern for her birthday. It said on the package to light it and let it float away and all her wishes would come true. The process of lighting it seemed easy enough. I guess what we didn’t take into account was the cool, damp air. We had a heck of a time with the air getting warm enough to allow the lantern to lift and fly away.

The piece that was lit just wasn’t providing enough heat. So, Jim had the idea of heating the air with his heat gun. Great idea but by the time Jenna got it to the backyard, it had cooled down again.

So, the next idea was to heat the air again over the fire.

It finally lifted – but not for long. It came down again and landed in a tree that’s trying to die. We were a little concerned about starting the tree on fire. We were able to salvage the lantern and will try it again another day. Oh well, Gina, we sure had fun – thanks for sharing your gift!

Curt celebrated his birthday on Sunday. He and Jamie (as mentioned earlier) chaperoned the prom dance for the E-M Juniors and Seniors on the eve of his birthday. I think they had a good time. I heard the meal was awesome. To my very favorite son-in-law…HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This brings me up to date with the happenings around the Zeorian house. The following pictures of the equipment that’s cluttering my yard. 🙂

As you can see, the rose bush is telling me a little more each day it’s time to be heading south.

Some things just never change.
